Travis Hunter Rumors: NFL Scouts Favor Colorado Star as WR Over DB

Travis Hunter excels in all roles at Colorado, but NFL scouts believe he should concentrate on playing receiver.

ESPN’s Matt Miller noted that scouts see Hunter as a better fit for receiver due to his speed and playmaking skills, while playing cornerback would require him to focus more on technique than speed.

Last season, Hunter shined as both a receiver and cornerback, catching 57 passes for 721 yards and 5 touchdowns, plus 31 tackles and 3 interceptions.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders believes Hunter should play offense and defense in the NFL.

“The NFL has a dilemma,” Sanders mentioned in the spring. “How will they draft him? He needs to play offense and defense since he’s valuable in both roles.”

Hunter is expected to be a first-round pick, though opinions differ on his exact spot. His skills in both offense and defense have been great for Sanders but make it tough for teams to predict his performance in a single position.

Sanders’ involvement complicates matters for NFL teams. The Hall of Fame cornerback intends to guide Hunter and his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, towards specific teams before the draft.

“I have a plan for their destinations,” Sanders shared on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. “Some cities won’t be included. It’s like drawing a line in the sand.”
