Seats Are Still Open For The Aug. 29 CU Buffs Season Opener

Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders anticipates a full house for the Buffaloes’ season opener on August 29.

With the opener coming up soon, plenty of seats are still open. As of Tuesday afternoon, CU reported almost 3,000 tickets available for the Aug. 29 game at Folsom Field against North Dakota State (6 p.m., ESPN).

Fans can get tickets at cubuffs.com/tickets or by calling 303-492-8282.

In 2023, the Buffs achieved a historic first by selling out every home game. They also drew packed crowds for almost every road game, playing 11 of 12 games in full stadiums.

Reilly moving on

Last week, CU added George Helow as a senior defensive coach, joining from Michigan and Alabama. On Tuesday, BuffZone revealed the position opened up when quality control analyst Trevor Reilly left the program. The source didn’t specify if Reilly resigned or was dismissed.

Reilly joined the CU staff in December 2022, following Coach Prime from Jackson State. As a graduate assistant at JSU and former NFL player, Reilly managed the special teams at CU.

With Reilly now off the staff, Tommie Robinson, the director of quality control, will handle the Buffs’ special teams. Robinson, who was brought on board by Coach Prime in March 2023, has nearly 40 years of coaching experience. He previously worked with running backs at Texas A&M and has a history with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, where he coached Deion Sanders, who scored three of his six career punt return touchdowns under Robinson.

Notable

CU star cornerback and receiver Travis Hunter has been present at practices this week but hasnโ€™t taken part, as he’s resting. He missed CUโ€™s public practice in Denver on Friday, but Coach Prime assured, โ€œHeโ€™s good. We just wanted to give him some rest.โ€ This week, Hunter was named to the Associated Press preseason All-America first team as an all-purpose player. Meanwhile, offensive line coach Phil Loadholt, in his first year as a full-time assistant, praised Gunnar White, a quality control analyst, for significantly smoothing out the lineโ€™s operations.
