At Tuesday’s press conference, Deion Sanders shared injury updates on important Colorado Buffaloes players before their game against Colorado State.
Sanders gave an update on Chidozie Nwankwo, who was injured during Colorado’s game against Nebraska. Nwankwo, a Houston transfer, has been key for the defense with three tackles and one sack this season. Sanders expressed hope for his recovery, saying, “We’re praying he can return soon.”
Sanders provided an update on Dallan Hayden, a key player for Colorado. Hayden, who transferred from Ohio State, has been Colorado’s top rusher in the first two games. Despite his strong performance, Sanders mentioned that Hayden will likely miss the next game against Colorado State.
The injury status remains uncertain for Isaiah Hardge, while LaVonta Bentley practiced despite not being fully recovered. Sanders mentioned Bentley is improving but still limping a little and may be given an extra rest day before Saturday’s game.
Shedeur Sanders was pulled from the game late in the fourth quarter last week after a helmet-to-helmet collision but is expected to return soon. Meanwhile, Shilo Sanders will likely miss two to three weeks due to arm surgery, leaving his status uncertain for the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
Coach Prime stressed the need for players to show strong performance in practice before deciding if they’ll play. With several key injuries, Colorado’s depth will be challenged as they get ready for Colorado State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
