Deion Sanders Shares Jimmy Horn Jr. And Micah Welch’s Injury Status For Kansas Game

The Colorado Buffaloes are in a strong position to compete for the College Football Playoff this season. Coach Deion Sanders understands that achieving this goal will require a complete team effort and getting healthy.

Before the Kansas game, Sanders discussed the chances of running back Micah Welch and wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. playing.

Deion Sanders shared that Micah will play, and they hope Jimmy can return soon. He emphasized that if Jimmy proves heโ€™s ready to play, heโ€™ll be on the field, as his presence alone can intimidate the opposition.

Horn joined Colorado as a transfer from USF before the 2023 season and quickly became a key player for the Buffaloes’ offense. In nine games, he’s recorded 33 catches for 434 yards, averaging 13.2 yards per reception. Along with a touchdown, he’s also contributed with a carry and returned kicks and punts, showing his versatility.

Sanders hasn’t had Horn since he was injured during the Texas Tech game with a lower-body issue. Colorado has been evaluating him daily, but he had to sit out the Utah game.

Despite the injury, Colorado has a strong group of wide receivers. Travis Hunter leads the way, but they can also count on LaJohntay Wester and Will Sheppard, who have combined for 23 touchdown catches this season.

Micah Welch, a freshman at Colorado, has quickly made his mark, rushing for 121 yards on 24 carries and scoring three touchdowns this season.

Deion Sanders addresses Colorado future, other opportunities

Deion Sanders dismissed NFL rumors, stating he’s content at Colorado and not seeking other opportunities at the moment.

โ€œYou shouldnโ€™t talk like that with my A.D. here. Itโ€™s disrespectful. Youโ€™re bringing up my A.D. when talking about me going somewhere? They said a lot of things before we started winning, right? That wasnโ€™t fair. Everything has a price,โ€ Sanders said.

“I’m in a great place right now. Iโ€™m feeling good, relaxed, and enjoying life. I’m happy and excited about where I am. I truly love it here, and I’m grateful. That’s where I stand. Next question.”
