Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes secured their quarterback of the future with five-star Julian Lewis committing on Thursday. Shedeur Sanders has already connected with the talented prospect.
Colorado has uncertainties at the position after Sanders enters the 2025 NFL draft.
Sanders began his career at Jackson State, where he helped the Tigers win two SWAC titles. After transferring to Colorado State for the 2023 season, he gained recognition for his strong performances alongside standout Travis Hunter.
Replacing Sanders is crucial for Coloradoโs offense as Deion Sanders and his team look to keep up the strong momentum from their 8-2 season.
Lewis, ranked as the No. 3 pro-style quarterback by Rivals, committed to the Buffaloes on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
He shared that he’ll pursue both athletics and academics at the University of Colorado.
Lewis, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 175 pounds, plays for Carrollton High School in Georgia. After decommitting from USC on Nov. 17, 2024, he visited Georgia before committing to Colorado.
Lewis is the top-rated quarterback recruit in program history, and Shedeur Sanders shared his thoughts on X.
“Legendary,” he wrote to Lewis.
Lewis will be a key player for the program in the future. As a junior, he threw for 3,094 yards and 48 touchdowns with just two interceptions, earning MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year. He later reclassified from 2026 to 2025.
Colorado is focused on reaching the Big 12 Championship Game and a possible College Football Playoff spot. The No. 16 Buffaloes will play Kansas (4-6) Saturday and wrap up the regular season against Oklahoma State (3-7) on Nov. 29.
