Shedeur Sanders Describes His First Month With The Browns As “Fun” And “Interesting”

Shedeur Sanders hasn’t wasted any time getting settled in Berea. The former Colorado star, drafted by Cleveland in the fifth round last month, reported well ahead of rookie minicamp and has spent long days at team headquarters focusing on his playbook and on-field work. After a pre-draft whirlwind, simply “getting back on grass” at rookie camp felt like a reset, Sanders explained on his 2Legendary podcast, adding that being able to show what he can do “put all the outside noise to an end.”

Building a rapport with Kevin Stefanski

The 22-year-old quarterback is experiencing life without his father, Deion Sanders, on the sideline for the first time in years. He said head coach Kevin Stefanski “definitely pushes you … to be the best in all areas,” and the rookie appreciates the respect Stefanski shows every newcomer. “It’s been real fun. It’s been interesting being a Cleveland Brown now,” Sanders said.

Inside a crowded QB room

Cleveland’s quarterback competition is one of the league’s biggest offseason storylines. Stefanski and his staff are weighing veteran Joe Flacco, free-agent addition Kenny Pickett, third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, and Sanders himself for the starting job. Despite the stakes, Sanders says the daily vibe is relaxed:

“Every day is fun going in there … just getting to talk to quarterbacks who’ve taken NFL snaps—you’re living the experience through them.”

Flacco echoed that sentiment after Wednesday’s OTA session, praising Sanders for keeping meetings lively and “cracking a smile” even as he learns the system. Pickett offered similar encouragement.

What’s next

The Browns finish their first block of organized team activities this week and return to the field next Tuesday. For Sanders, the next few practices are another chance to prove that his trademark work ethic—and a little humor—fit right in with Cleveland’s quarterback room.
