Colorado-North Dakota State Football Game Moved To Thursday, Aug. 29

Officials just announced the Colorado Buffaloes’ first football game against North Dakota State is now on Thursday, August 29. We’re still waiting to hear about the game time and TV details.

The upcoming game between the Buffaloes and Bison marks their first-ever clash on the gridiron. The Bison boast an impressive record, claiming 17 National Championships and 37 conference titles. Under new coach Tim Polasek, formerly of Wyoming, they’re eager to continue their success. With nine Division I FCS titles since 2011, they’re a formidable opponent with a strong coaching background.

In 2024, the Buffaloes stepped up their game, showing major improvement with a 4-8 finish. They kept things tight, with five losses decided by just one score. From 2022 to 2023, their offense soared, jumping from 126th to 58th in scoring and from 117th to 16th in passing. Fans couldn’t get enough, making them the most-watched team nationwide by season’s end, finishing a solid sixth after bowl season and playoffs.

We’ll know the game time and TV details by late May. Keep an eye out for updates on CU’s games against Nebraska (Sept. 7) and Colorado State (Sept. 14) around the same time.

Colorado has a decent record of 31-20-2 on Thursday games overall, though they’ve only played five in the last 32 seasons, two of which were at home. Their recent home game was back in 2012 against Arizona State. At home on Thursdays, they’ve won 7 out of 10 games, including victories against Stanford in 1990 and West Virginia in 2008.
