Colorado football’s second game of the 2024 season is set for the primetime spotlight.
On Monday, the Buffs shared that their game against Nebraska on Sept. 7 will air at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
The schools renewed their old rivalry last season after the Cornhuskers left for the Big Ten in 2011. Colorado clinched a 36-14 victory at home in Boulder.
In just the second game under Coach Prime, the Buffaloes scored a big win that got everyone talking. Suddenly, they went from not even being ranked to sitting pretty at 18th in the Top 25 poll. All thanks to a solid 2-0 start.
Besides winning games, Deion Sanders made Colorado football unmissable on TV.
As the season wound down, the excitement fizzled out with eight losses in the last nine games. And, as you’d expect, fewer folks tuned in to catch the Buffs play.
The Nebraska game coming up will show us if all that early excitement will keep going strong in 2024.
Colorado starts off against North Dakota State on Aug. 29, which might be tough since the Bison are pretty solid in the FCS. But playing on a Thursday against a lower-level team like them isn’t likely to grab much attention from casual fans.
Even before Sanders joined the scene, folks who followed both teams in the Big 12 always found Colorado vs. Nebraska matchups pretty intriguing.
With all the different stories going on โ like Sanders and Rhule’s second year with the Cornhuskers, Shedeur Sanders aiming for the Heisman, and Dylan Raiola’s debut for Nebraska โ this game’s bound to grab attention.
