Dallan Hayden’s 2024 Colorado Buffaloes football player profile

Dallan Hayden’s 2024 Colorado Buffaloes Football Player Profile

Last season, Colorado’s football offense improved a bunch, but their running game often lagged behind, only hitting 100 yards twice. Blame it on the not-so-great offensive line. So, they needed to beef up their running back squad, especially after some players left. And who came to the rescue? Dallan Hayden from Ohio State Buckeyes.

Hayden, who was a top high school player, spent two years at Ohio State before joining the Buffaloes in April. With new players in the offensive line and some promising running backs eager to lead the charge, Colorado’s running game could really step up in 2024. If Hayden shines during fall camp, he could secure a lot of playing time next season.

Here’s the scoop on Colorado’s possible main runner:

Recruiting Rankings

Hayden was seen as a top prospect in high school, earning four stars in the 247sports rankings. But when he joined Colorado, his rating dropped to three stars as a transfer.

College Production

In his first year at college, Hayden made quite an impact, rushing for 553 yards and scoring five touchdowns in 10 games. But in the following year, his numbers dipped. He played fewer games and had fewer yards and touchdowns.

Where does he fit on CU’s depth chart?

With Colorado losing their top four rushers from last year, Hayden has a shot at starting in fall camp. His main competition includes freshman Micah Welch, transfer Isaiah Augustave from Arkansas, and returner Charlie Offerdahl. It’s likely Colorado will share rushing duties among a few players early on until they settle on a primary runner.
