On Thursday, the Davey O’Brien Foundation announced its preseason list of top quarterbacks for the award.

The 2024 preseason list includes 22 seniors, 12 juniors, and 2 sophomores. Notable nominees are:

• Carson Beck (Georgia)
• Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)
• Quinn Ewers (Texas)
• Dillon Gabriel (Oregon)
• Kyle McCord (Syracuse)
• Jalen Milroe (Alabama)
• Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)
• DJ Uiagalelei (Florida State)

In summary, there are eight quarterbacks from the ACC and Big 12, six from the SEC, four from the Big 10, three from the American Athletic Conference, and two each from Conference USA and the Sun Belt.

Recent winners of the award are Jayden Daniels, Max Duggan, and Bryce Young. In the last seven years, five winners have also claimed the Heisman Trophy that same season.

The preseason watch list kicks off the journey to find the 2024 winner, but players not on it still have a shot at the award. In October, a midseason list will highlight those who’ve stood out in the first part of the season.

On October 29, the list will be narrowed to 35 players. Semifinalists will be chosen by November 12, finalists by November 26, and the winner will be announced on December 12.
