Colorado’s Deion Sanders Advises Players Against Smoking Before Bowl Game

Deion Sanders, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, set some guidelines for his players when they checked into their hotel ahead of the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

Sanders told his players that smoking isn’t allowed.

“If I catch a whiff of smoke or hear someone smoking on any floor, that will be the end of it,” Sanders said.

Colorado players chuckled, but Coach Prime was not joking.

“I’m just letting you know โ€“ that was your final smoke. I hope you enjoyed it because there wonโ€™t be another. If I catch even a hint of smoke on you at practice or breakfast tomorrow, itโ€™ll be the end of it for you.”

Sanders is really focused on his first bowl game.

The Buffalos are heading to their first bowl game since 2020, a season affected by the pandemic. However, they haven’t won a bowl game since 2004, back when Gary Barnett was coaching the team.

Colorado has two standout players, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, likely to be top five picks in the NFL Draft. To protect their interests, the team secured disability insurance in case of injuries during the Alamo Bowl.

“We have many players eligible for the draft who have received grades. Theyโ€™ve had insurance all season, so if anything happens, theyโ€™re protected,” Sanders mentioned on Monday.

“We have two standout players who are likely to be the top picks in the NFL Draft. Everyone knows who they are, and the attention they’ve received is unprecedented in college football history. It’s really exciting to see their hard work recognized, and we couldn’t be happier for them.”
