A former Pac-12 coach thinks Colorado’s Deion Sanders will drive his son, Shedeur Sanders, to win this year’s Heisman Trophy.

“He’s got NFL potential,” the coach told Bruce Feldman of The Athletic about Colorado’s quarterback.

“Is he the top draft pick? I’m not sure, but he’s definitely talented. He throws accurately and is first-round material. Deion will likely push for Shedeur to win the Heisman. The team looks strong with good wide receivers and an improved O-line. They’ll have a much better season.”

DraftKings Sportsbook gives Sanders 35-1 odds for the Heisman. Leading the pack are Georgia’s Carson Beck at 8-1, Texas’ Quinn Ewers at 9-1, and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel at 10-1.

Sanders had a 69.3% completion rate last year, throwing for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He also rushed for four touchdowns.

The Buffaloes need a stronger season for Sanders to be a Heisman contender. Last year, they started well but struggled in Pac-12 play, ending 4-8.

The Buffaloes are in the Big 12 now. On paper, it doesn’t look too tough. The top team is Kansas State at No. 17.

Sanders had some amazing moments last year and might shine in 2024. If the Buffaloes keep winning and Sanders keeps improving, he could end up in New York next December.
